Senior BackEnd Engineer - NodeJS
What you will be doing
We’re seeking a Backend Engineer to join our team supporting a Tactical Health Program. This role will focus on building and maintaining backend services and APIs that power mobile health programs, notifications, and labs ingestion. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a HIPAA-compliant environment, collaborating closely with frontend, DevOps and product teams to deliver secure, scalable services.
- Design and implement REST APIs to support mobile program delivery, reflections, notifications and labs ingestion.
- Integrate with external services such as Sanity CMS, Mux, Firebase and Google Vision API.
- Build and maintain backend components for notification scheduling, content delivery and diagnostic ingestion.
- Develop and manage database schemas in Cloud SQL, ensuring secure storage and reliable retrieval.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA standards: RBAC, encryption and secure audit trails.
- Collaborate with DevOps to deploy and scale services on Google Cloud Platform (e.g. Cloud Run, Functions, Tasks, SQL).
- Contribute to sprint planning, code reviews and agile ceremonies.
- Write unit and integration tests to ensure system reliability and stability.
